We are fine...

Just a quick post as I got my power and phones (cell and landline) back amazingly fast... don't know if it is for good or for just awhile.. devastation is beyond belief in some places here on Long Island but my family is fine... a tense night but besides downed trees and power lines, we are safe and sound.
My prayers are with all of those who lost so much in this destructive storm.  With only our Red Cross Radio and no power until an hour or so ago, I just got to see the first images on television of the subways of Manhattan under water and parts of our beloved Fire Island washed away - Parts of New Jersey were hit so hard as well and those images are painful to imagine.
So much to be grateful for- thank you for all your prayers, emails and comments..

Believe!

Happy Sunday... actually not so happy, but rather a bit anxious about the impending hurricane coming our way.  I live on the south shore of Long Island and we are told "Sandy" will be a huge storm!  We are as prepared as we can be and the rest is left to hopes and prayers that it will all end with everyone in its path safe and sound!  One of the nicest ways to divert my attention from anxious thoughts was to create this card and so I spent the greater part of the evening in my craft room creating this project.  For this card, I used a Mo Manning digital image, "Winter Fairy Talva"... isn't she the cutest?
"Winter Fairy Talva" is colored with copic markers.  I used a bunch of BG's and also added some of the blue/blue green fluorscent markers.  I am sorry I did not note the colors- some times when I color I am a madman with so many markers and mixing colors...Her dress was dusted with with Deco Art Glamour Dust and embellished with Viva Decor Pearl Pen (white).  I just left those little pearls on her dress alone until they dried and each one is perfect this time!  Talva's pompoms and snowball are also covered with Diamond Stickles.  The design paper is an older Bo Bunny paper called Snowy Serenade and it is hard to find.  I also used Melissa Frances C'est la Vie.  The metal corner embellishment, pearls and flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and Recollections.  Swarovski crystals and silver crystal rose ribbon from my stash.  Magnolia doohickey is behind the sentiment from an old acrylic stamp set in my stash.
In my last post, I told you about the stash of glittery tulle I purchased from Joanns...well I found another use for it... it matched my card colors so well that I thought I would drape it in my light tent behind my card. I scattered some large flat back pearls and voila!

    A close up view...
Thanks so much for stopping by and for leaving such kind comments.  They say we may not have power for 7-10 days after the storm hits on Monday but I am hoping that won't be the case!  I will be entering this card in the following challenges:

AOOOOOOOOO! The Paper Shelter Challenge

Hope your week is going well.. It's Wednesday and that means another great challenge from The Paper Shelter.  Our theme this week is... HALLOWEEN.   Even though I am the biggest scaredy cat, I just love Halloween; love to decorate the house with candles and all things spooky.
As always, The Paper Shelter offers a $30 voucher to anyone who wins using a TPS image.  If you choose to use an image from another company, you can still win a choice of 3 digis from the store.  Veronica and Pedro love giving away the "big prize" so we hope you play with one of the TPS images.

For my Halloween card, I selected "A Great Harvest"  and merged him with another digi image by CC Designs called "Swiss Pixie Halloween Scene".  Since The Paper Shelter images come in both JPEG and PNG formats, you can merge them with any other digi images that are also PNG format.
My little "werewolf" is colored with copic markers.  I often struggle with hair that has few or no lines so what I did with this little guy is that I lightly added some strands of hair with the copic .03 black multiliner - it made it easier for me to blend his haircolor having created a few more "sections."
The design paper is from K&Company, an older 12x12 paper pad.  The black cardstock is from Recollections and the card base is 12x12 STARDREAM METALLIC #105 weight from Cut Cardstock - they make the best and most sturdy cardstock for a card base.  I purchase the Stardream metallic (white) and Opal Metallic (ivory) for my card bases.  You will find you can layer all your fun embellishments on this cardstock without any bending.
I also went crazy at Joann's this week purchasing 1/4 yard cuts of fun Tulle and Netting.  I used the crickled black (first one on left in pic below) for this card.  Such sparkle...no need to get out the Glamour Dust! I have so many gorgeous colors that you will be seeing in upcoming posts.  While I love to spray my own cheesecloth with the many great spray inks, sometimes it saves time to use the premade tulle!
The Scary Fence punch is from Martha Stewart and the sentiment is one I found on the internet... doesn't it match the image so perfectly?
Well, that is all for me today... as always, thank you for your kind comments.  Won't you hop over to The Paper Shelter blog to see what the design team has created to inspire you?  Hoping  you will join us for a "howling" good challenge.... AOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

"When Shall We Three Meet Again" (Macbeth)

Happy Tuesday!  Just stopping by to post my card entry for the latest Saturated Canary challenge... it was an "interesting" color inspiration photo, to say the least, but I just love challenges. As I say, they help you stretch those creative muscles whether it is with color, medium or your project design.  Here is the photo as inspiration:
saturated canary digi
Well, the first thing I did was carry (run) this little photo over to my craft table and match the color chips in the photo with my "copic swatch book".  Once I knew what colors I could use, I selected one of my favorite new Saturated Canary images, WitchKeys.  I love having all three witches in one image and how perfect for the Halloween season. Each witch has her own look and her own attitude!

"Witchkeys" was colored with copic markers (see colors below).  I created polka dots with the Sharpie white paint pen and then coated certain parts of each witch with Deco Art Glamour Dust.  In some spots, my glue/glitter blobbed a bit but I was afraid the copics might smear if I touched it and coloring them over was not an option!

The cardstock is from Bazzill and that fab design paper is Authentique's Enchanted 6x6 paper pad.  I also used my favorite Kraft cardstock from Craftworks to mat my paper/image. It is a nice thick and dark cardstock!  All edges of the cardstock and papers were distressed with Tim Holtz Walnut Stain ink.  Behind the image, I cut two pieces of black spiderweb net ribbon to add to the spooky theme.  The flowers are all from Recollections and Wild Orchid Crafts. The sentiment is from one of my favorite acrylic stamp sets by Obsession ImpressionLast but not least, the die cut swirls are one of my "go-to" dies from Memory Box, Elegant Scrollwork.

  Copics:
Clothes/Hats: RV99, 95, 93 &91
YR 24, 14, 21 & 20
G99, 84, 82 &40
C9, 7,5,3, 1, & 0

The shadows surrounding the image are made with Pebbles Iridescent chalk.  That's all for today... looking forward to playing with some other new stamps that just arrived. Thanks always for your kind comments.  I will be entering this card in the following challenges:

The Paper Shelter- Love Beats All Challenge

It's time again for another great challenge at The Paper Shelter. This weeks challenge theme is "Love Beats All"... you can interpret the theme any way you want!  You will have until Tuesday, October 16th to enter this challenge and post your project to our Inlinkz- don't forget to post a direct link to The Paper Shelter on your blog!
The Paper Shelter offers such awesome prizes to challenge winners - this week Veronica and Pedro are offering you a prize of $30 Gift Certificate to spend on their website, as long as you have used one of  The Paper Shelter images on your project, but even if you use another image, you can win 3 digi images of your choice!
For my card, I selected a new Christmas image called "Christmas Carols." Once again, this image comes with extra images such as an inked stamp, a colored stamp and background papers.  For my card, I colored the digi image with copic markers (see list below).

Now, I must tell you that I was so excited to get to color up this new image, that I totally forgot that the theme was "Love Beats All" until after I finished the card.  I was looking through my sentiment stamps and I thought to myself to double check the challenge and lo and behold, it was "love"!  No problem... I found a sentiment stamp (Just Rite) that fit the theme and judging by the way she is looking at him in this image, I don't think it is his voice that has her smiling and looking lovingly at him!
The design paper is from an old 12x12 paper pad I had from My Minds Eye called "Winter Wishes".   The cardstock is from Bazzill.  The burgundy silk ribbon is from May Arts and the trinket on top of it is from Bo Bunny's Blitzen Christmas Trinkets- love them!  The metal corner embellishment is from Michaels and the sentiment is from Just Rite stamps.  I added some Liquid Applique (white)to the fur on her coat and some Deco Art Glamour Dust/MS Snow Glitter to parts of the image. Last, I dusted some dark blue Pebbles Iridescent chalk around the image.  Viva Decor Pearl Paint created the "snowflakes" around the image.
I hope you will hop over to The Paper Shelter Challenge Blog to see what the DESIGN TEAM has created to inspire you.  We hope to see your project there this week. Have a great day, and thank you for your kind comments!
